Acron, a Russian vertically integrated mineral fertiliser producer, presented innovative soy nutrition systems at the Field Day hosted by the BASF Blagoveshchensk Agricultural Centre. Around 70 managers and experts from local agricultural companies attended the event, which took place at the demonstration sites of the Partisan Agricultural Firm in Tambovsky district of Amur region. Participants learnt about new crop growing solutions, including plant protection and nutrition systems, and explored regional crop varieties.
The Field Day focused primarily on the technologies for growing soybeans, as they are the key crop in Amur region and the entire Far Eastern Federal District. As the Far East is the leading Russian region for soybean production, more efficient cultivation technologies are essential for developing the local agricultural industry.
During the Field Day, experts from Acron and BASF spoke about their trial on the Sentiabrinka soybean variety. They started this trial to assess the efficiency of different soy mineral nutrition systems. The aim is to help the crop adapt to dry weather during the growing season, reducing stress caused by climatic factors and ensuring higher yields.
The traditional nutrition scheme was used for trial plot 1. Ammonium nitrate (AN) was applied during pre-sowing tillage, while complex fertilisers were applied at sowing. In trial plot 2, AN was substituted with CALINKA®, Acron’s calcium nitrate (CN) fertiliser with boron. Complex fertilisers were applied at sowing, as in trial plot 1. Increased calcium dosage strengthens cell walls, maintains turgor pressure and enhances a plant’s ability to retain water. The crop was sown on 29 May at a rate of 120 kilogram per hectare. The trial results will be later circulated to the Field Day participants.
