Based on its 2025 performance, Dorogobuzh has won the Golden Mercury award at the regional stage of one of Russia’s most prestigious business competitions.
Dorogobuzh has been recognised in the Responsible Businesses category based on its EPS (Environment, Personnel and State) rating and an assessment of its business reputation, which takes into account the company’s reliability as well as its social and environmental responsibility. The official award ceremony, attended by Pavel Simakov, Dorogobuzh’s Deputy Executive Director and Chief Engineer, was held under the motto ‘Launching Future from Smolensk’.
‘In 2025, Dorogobuzh’s expenditures related to sustainable development, including employee welfare, social and charitable projects, environmental initiatives and occupational health and safety, totalled RUB 2 billion, up 65% year-on-year. The company increased its investment across all pillars of its ESG strategy’, said Pavel Simakov.
The competition, held annually by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation with the support of the State Duma, the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, aims to identify the most prominent regional companies and promote exemplary Russian business practices.
Fifty-three regional enterprises were recognised for their contribution to the development of the economy, production, exports, service sector, innovation and social responsibility. Representatives of the Smolensk Regional Government and Duma congratulated the winners. Pyotr Ilyukhin, Chair of the Smolensk Regional Government, in his welcome address spoke highly of the strength of local businesses and their importance for the region’s economy.
‘The nominees’ accomplishments deserve the utmost respect. These examples of effective work should be showcased not only at the regional level but also nationally. This year, we received over 80 applications, which proves the significance of the competition within the business community. We are very proud of the participants and appreciate their contribution to the development of the Smolensk region’s economy’, said Vladimir Arkhipenkov, Chair of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Smolensk region.
The Golden Mercury competition, established in 2002, is one of the region’s key business events, traditionally organised by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Smolensk region with the support of the regional government.
