Dorogobuzh’s recreation centre attended by 710 children this summer

The Lastochka (Swallow) recreation centre, owned by Dorogobuzh (a member of Acron Group), welcomed 710 children from Smolensk region and other parts of Russia over five summer sessions, from 7 June through 23 August. Since Lastochka began operating all year round in 2025, it will organise an additional session during the autumn school break (25 October–7 November), with 142 children expected to attend.

As usual, each session had a theme. The mottos of the first three sessions were ‘Summer Like a Fairy Tale’, ‘Lastochka by Note’ and ‘Each Day is a Holiday’. The fourth and fifth sessions, with mottos ‘Heroes for All Time’ and ‘Bring Sports to Every Playground’, brought together members of children’s and youth groups, sports clubs and patriotic organisations, as well as volunteers, winners of academic competitions and high-achieving pupils.

The fourth session was organised by the regional patriotic sports club as a training camp, which featured patriotic, tactical, sporting and cultural activities. The children took part in team-building sessions, military medicine classes, group tactics training, military engineering exercises, hand-to-hand combat training, physical activity workshops and relay races, as well as various events designed to promote patriotism among young people. The training camp formed part of Smolensk region’s government programme for the patriotic education of young people.

The last, sports-themed, summer session welcomed young athletes from Smolensk region, Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Krasnodar Krai and other Russian regions. Apart from training sessions and competitions in sambo, judo, roller skiing, volleyball and track and field, the programme included recreational and entertainment activities. The best-performing children received awards.

Smolensk region’s governor Vasily Anokhin said, ‘Together with Dorogobuzh, we are committed to developing Lastochka’s infrastructure, which already provides safe and comfortable holiday conditions. I am pleased that children can see a positive change in their local area and, even better, that they plan to continue living in their home towns. The regional government will keep up its support for youth health and education initiatives’.

Lastochka is located in a picturesque forest on the shore of Lake Rubezhnoe in Dorogobuzh district. This summer, it hosted a variety of outdoor activities, including movement and educational games, quizzes, flash mobs, quests and music competitions. Children also enjoyed swimming in the lake.

Built in 1966, the recreation centre is undergoing large-scale renovations sponsored by Dorogobuzh. In 2025, the Company has spent RUB 174 million on new residential buildings, a medical centre, sports facilities and infrastructure.
