Dorogobuzh (a member of Acron Group) has upgraded its production process for polypropylene packaging and streamlined the shipping procedure for big-bagged products.
The Dorogobuzh polymer shop has introduced a new assembly technology for big bags, incorporating a ‘bottleneck’ liner. This liner is welded after the big bag has been filled to ensure the package is airtight, keeping the fertiliser safe during transportation and storage. Additionally, the big bags have handles that secure the liner to a rope inside. This innovation facilitates loading at the production site and unloading by farmers. The Dorogobuzh polymer shop has also altered the composition of the polyethylene feedstock to enhance physical and mechanical properties of the liners.
Pavel Simakov, Dorogobuzh’s Chief Engineer, explained, ‘Thanks to a new feedstock formula, we can now manufacture 540-kg and 1,000-kg big bags from a more durable material. Specialists from the polymer shop and our quality control and technology research centre conducted a series of pilot tests to determine the optimal combination of different grades of polyethylene granules and various additives. As a result, we have increased the tensile and breaking strength of the polyethylene sleeve by 50%, reduced static electricity built-up on its surface, and improved the liner’s elasticity and expandability’.
