Acron Group’s high-tech calcium nitrate (CN) production unit has won an award in ‘Responsible Consumption and Operations. Sustainable Production’ category of the ‘Best ESG Projects in Russia’ programme.
The programme recognises the most effective sustainable practices implemented by Russian businesses, while focusing on responsible governance and development. The winning projects demonstrated a commitment to reducing environmental impact, strengthening social responsibility and implementing transparent corporate standards.
The programme’s organising committee has reviewed nearly 700 applications from companies implementing ESG initiatives. Based on an evaluation by the expert counsel, 61 businesses have been identified as setting exemplary standards.
CN is a premium fertiliser that is both highly efficient and environmentally friendly. It is widely used in the agriculture. Acron Group is constructing the second CN unit at its production site in Veliky Novgorod. Following the upgrades to the first unit, which was launched in 2022, and the commissioning of the second unit, the Group’s CN output is expected to more than double to 270,000 tonnes per year. The project is scheduled for completion in 2025.
