As part of its charitable efforts, Dorogobuzh (a member of Acron Group) will donate 1,500 tonnes of high-quality fertilisers to the Smolensk agrarians for the spring and autumn sowing campaigns.
In response to a personal request from the Governor of Smolensk region Vasily Anokhin to the management of Dorogobuzh, the company will provide 700 tonnes of ammonium nitrate (AN) and 800 tonnes of NPK free of charge. Smolensk, Safonovo, Pochinki and Roslavl districts are the main consumers of Dorogobuzh’s products. A quarter of the donated fertilisers will be distributed among 66 members of the Sodeistvie Association of Farmers and Agricultural Co-operatives. Since 70% of the arable land in Smolensk region requires de-oxidation, Dorogobuzh will also donate 10,000 tonnes of calcium carbonate (chalk) for this purpose to improve the soil fertility and the effectiveness of fertiliser application. In addition, the local growers will be able to purchase AN from Dorogobuzh at a price at least 10% lower than in neighbouring regions. This fertiliser works well even in frozen soil, so it can be applied in early spring, to start the sowing season within the optimal agro-technical timeframe.
‘Acron Group is committed to successful development of Smolensk region. I would like to thank Acron Vice President Vladimir Kantor and Dorogobuzh CEO Vladimir Kunitsky for their support to regional agrarians’, said Mr Anokhin. The preparations for the spring sowing campaign are in full swing and timing of mineral fertiliser deliveries is essential for the agricultural industry. With this in mind, Dorogobuzh is giving priority to shipments to farmers in Smolensk region.
The spring sowing area planned for the 2025 harvest in Smolensk region, including fodder and grain crops, rapeseed and flax, has increased by 7.3% to 410,000 hectares. In spring, the main task for farmers is to feed winter grain crops, rapeseed and perennial grasses, and to carry out the spring ploughing on time, properly and promptly.
