Roman Dmitriev, Executive Director of Dorogobuzh (a member of Acron Group), and Konstantin Serenkov, Head of the Dorogobuzh Municipal District in Smolensk Region, have signed a new social partnership agreement.
As part of the agreement, Dorogobuzh, the town’s largest employer, will sponsor the renovation of Pushkin Street, Pobeda Bulwark and the central square in 2026. This project was recognised as one of the best initiatives at the 10th Russian National Urban Design and Planning Contest. The results of the contest were announced at the Forum on the Development of Small Towns and Historical Communities, which took place in Kazan in 2025. The project is worth RUB 86 million, with the federal authorities providing RUB 76 million, Dorogobuzh donating RUB 7.6 million, and the Smolensk regional administration allocating RUB 2 million. The local authorities will fund the remaining RUB 8,000.
The project will transform the 1.47-hectare area into a modern, comfortable public space, while preserving the town's historical appearance. The new space will feature a scenic viewpoint, a playground, a shaded walkway with benches, a promenade, an area for outdoor events, a dance venue with an amphitheatre, a cycle path and a multifunctional pavilion, as well as various objets d'art, including an arch at the entrance to Pobeda Bulwark. The project will also include the construction of new pavements, a public garden and green spaces, as well as the installation of street lighting and video surveillance.
‘Dorogobuzh has been our reliable partner for many years’, said Mr Serenkov. ‘The Company helps us implement major social initiatives and sponsors educational, sports, cultural and urban projects. We are grateful to Dorogobuzh’s management for their support, which goes far beyond the scope of the agreement’.
‘Roman Dmitriev emphasised the importance of the project, which will make the town more appealing to residents of all ages and families with children while preserving its historical appearance and unique setting. ‘We are glad to support the initiative of the district and regional authorities because such projects make Dorogobuzh a better place to live’.
‘Dorogobuzh has maintained its partnership agreement with the municipal administration since 2017, contributing to the region’s social and economic development and creating modern, comfortable and safe public spaces for local communities.
