The Mayor of Veliky Novgorod Alexander Rozbaum and Acron’s Deputy Executive Director Andrey Pestov signed the Contest Regulations and discussed the main aspects of the contest.
The ‘Effective Education with Acron’ is intended to encourage and support the best Veliky Novgorod’s secondary educational institutions, preparing their graduates to enter the Yaroslav-the-Wise Novgorod State University and the Novgorod Chemical and Industrial College and study professions in demand at Acron, as well as to promote career guidance for schoolchildren. The competition is open to all local secondary schools, regardless of specialisation.
A total of RUB 900,000 will be distributed among the top six contestants. The money will be used to reward teachers for their excellent work in preparing graduates for university entrance exams, and to improve the equipment, information and teaching methods in schools, gymnasiums and lyceums.
Andrey Pestov believes that career guidance should start at school: 'We are happy to join forces with the Veliky Novgorod administration to convince as many graduates as possible to study at local educational institutions for the professions in demand at Acron, primarily in the fields of electrical power engineering, chemical technology, instrumentation and mechanical engineering’.
Alexander Rozbaum emphasised that these practices serve as an incentive for science teachers, their students and schools in general. ‘We are confident that this initiative, which we believe is both stimulating and effective, will yield the desired results. We highly appreciate Acron’s involvement in the life of our city and local educational programmes’.
Registration of applications for the contest will start on 1 April. The winners will be announced at the end of September based on the results of the admission campaign.
