Roman Dmitriev, Executive Director of Dorogobuzh (a member of Acron Group), and Konstantin Serenkov, Head of Dorogobuzh District Municipality, Smolensk region, have signed a 49-year concession agreement to transfer a sports centre in Verkhnedneprovsky settlement for reconstruction and subsequent public use.
Welcoming the landmark event, Mr Serenkov said: 'This is the first project of its kind in Smolensk region, a vivid example of big business investing in the development of the social infrastructure of our district. I would like to thank the Dorogobuzh management for their initiative. I am confident that the sports centre in Verkhnedneprovsky settlement will be revived and more people will enjoy an active lifestyle’.
Vladimir Kunitsky, CEO of Dorogobuzh, and Vasily Anokhin, Governor of Smolensk region, agreed during their visit to the site in April 2024 that the company would reconstruct the sports facility at its own expense.
The renovation plan for the building, which has an area of over 1,100 square metres, includes the replacement of engineering networks, roofing and windows, the repair of all interiors, the façade and the entrance group, the improvement of the adjacent area with landscaping, lighting, car park, fencing, footpaths and benches. The company will purchase new sports equipment to provide safe conditions for all visitors.
‘Dorogobuzh’s sports centre plans to organise football, fitness, basketball and volleyball groups, and to hold tournaments for its employees, as well as district and regional competitions at the Verkhnedneprovsky sports centre. We will continue cooperation with the Verkhnedneprovsky sports school for children and youth, and invite them to train and compete there. Our task is to create a modern and well-equipped centre of attraction for all enthusiasts of a healthy lifestyle, to make the leisure time of the district residents more meaningful and useful’, said Roman Dmitriev.
