Acron Group Team Wins a Prize at ChemFest

Acron Group has become a silver medallist at the ChemFest competition organised by the Russian Union of Chemists.

The combined team of Acron Group’s companies (Acron, Dorogobuzh and NWPC) came second in the overall standings among 16 teams, having lost only one point to the winner.

Acron employees Konstantin Smirnov and Elena Kozmidi won bronze medals in the men’s and women’s 1,000-metre track runs, while Pavel Rezunov from Dorogobuzh was second in mas-wrestling competition.

‘Our team regularly takes part in the festival and consistently delivers excellent results. Acron Group’s companies may be thousands of kilometres apart, but we come together as one team at the competitions. We support and cheer each other up. The festival is the perfect opportunity not only to achieve high sporting results, but also to catch up with colleagues in a friendly atmosphere. We are very proud of our athletes who came second at ChemFest’, said Larisa Koroleva, Director of Acron’s Sports Centre.

Acron Group is dedicated to promoting a healthy lifestyle and sports activities. For instance, Acron production facility in Veliky Novgorod has a sports complex on site, offering all services free of charge. The company also runs an additional sports and wellness facility in the city, organising about 90 sports events attended by over 4,000 employees every year. The most popular event is the annual Acron’s Spartakiad, year-round series of competitions in 10 types of sports: ski racing, volleyball, swimming, orienteering, athletics, darts, football, table tennis, basketball, and chess.

All Dorogobuzh employees are welcome to visit any of three sports centre’s sites in Dorogobuzh and in Verkhnedneprovsky settlement. In 2023, the centre hosted 74 sports and wellness events attended by 2,350 enthusiasts, including 1,800 Dorogobuzh’s employees. The company also organises Spartakiads among its personnel, pitting men against each other in 17 and women in 15 types of sports, such as ski racing, table tennis, summer polyathlon, mini-football, volleyball, Russian lapta, multisport race, shooting, darts, combined relay race, badminton, draughts, chess, streetball, and swimming. In 2023, the programme expanded with winter fishing and relay race events.

NWPC employees hold their own Spartakiads and compete in regional tournaments. More than 1,000 of them are actively engaged in sports.
