Acron Commissions Second Urea Granulation Unit at Veliky Novgorod Site

Acron Group has commissioned the second 700,000-tpa urea granulation unit at its Veliky Novgorod site. The project worth USD 65 million will bring total commercial output of granulated and prilled urea to 2.1 million tonnes per year.

The project was implemented without engaging an external EPC contractor. Acron’s capital construction department provided technical support and construction supervision. Acron Engineering, an Acron Group company, was the general designer for this BIM project.

Acron Group has completed another strategically important project of its investment programme. Approved investments for the modernisation and expansion of production in 2023–2025 will exceed USD 1.5 billion. As a result of the extensive urea modernisation programme, Acron has become the largest urea producer in Europe. Acron Group is actively involved in ensuring Russia’s food security and solving the global hunger problem to support a growing world population, including the poorest countries.

Acron launched its first 700,000-tpa urea granulation unit in 2020. Upon commissioning of the second unit, total capacity will reach 1.4 million tpa of granulated urea and 700,000 tpa of prilled urea.
