Dorogobuzh Donates 1,000 Tonnes of Mineral Fertilisers to Smolensk Growers

Dorogobuzh (a member of Acron Group) has donated its products to Smolensk growers to support the spring sowing campaign. In total, agricultural producers from 22 districts of Smolensk region received 1,000 tonnes of high-quality mineral fertilisers.

At the request of the acting governor of Smolensk region, Vasily Anokhin, the Company delivered 700 tonnes of ammonium nitrate and 300 tonnes of NPK, worth RUB19 million, free of charge to 138 farms in the region.

Growers from Smolensk, Yartsevo, Safonovo, Pochinki, and Roslavl districts continue to be the main consumers of Dorogobuzh’s products. About a third of the donated fertilisers was distributed to 59 members of the Sodeistvie association of agricultural enterprises and cooperatives.

Dorogobuzh has also provided 5,000 tonnes of calcium carbonate (chalk), worth around RUB1.5 million, to improve the fertility of farmland in Smolensk region, 70% of which requires deoxidation. According to the Smolensk region Department of Agriculture and Food, the use of agro-lime increases the efficiency of fertiliser application and thus the yields, improves the quality of crop production, and contributes to green agriculture.

Vasily Anokhin welcomed the Company’s support for local farmers. ‘I am grateful to Dorogobuzh President Vladimir Kunitsky for responding to my request for additional fertiliser for spring sowing. We also appreciate Dorogobuzh’s priority fertiliser deliveries’.

This year, the spring sowing campaign in Smolensk region started in the second decade of April. Local farmers will sow the same area of grain and legumes as last year. The area planted with flax will increase by 5% and the area planted with potatoes and vegetables by 10%. The area under winter crops will increase by 17%. In the spring, farmers will focus on fertilising winter cereals, winter rape and perennial grasses, and on ploughing the land quickly, properly and on time.
