Acron Puts on Stream a New Water Ultrafiltration Unit

Acron Group commissioned a cutting-edge 1,000-tph water ultrafiltration unit at its industrial site in Veliky Novgorod.

The project cost a total of RUB 670 million and was designed by Novgorodsky GIAP.

The Ammonia-4 unit will consume most of energy resources from the unit, which will provide up to 60% of its ultrafiltered water. The remainder will be delivered to the facility’s water supply network.

The highly automated, energy-efficient unit will save up to RUB 60-65 million annually. The unit is operated by a single employee.

Acron CEO Vladimir Kunitsky comments: “Acron management resolved to construct an extra ultrafiltration unit in early 2018 as part of a project to increase the capacity of the Ammonia-4 unit to 2,500 tonnes per day. This advanced unit will provide water of the highest quality to the cooling towers in the water supply and sewerage shop, which will have a positive impact on most of the facility’s other operations, as well.

Currently, the unit produces up to 1,100 tonnes of water per hour, 10% over its design capacity.

Ammonia-4 is the largest ammonia unit in Europe and the biggest investment project at the Acron site in Veliky Novgorod over decades. It is the first ammonia unit since the breakup of the Soviet Union constructed by Russian experts without foreign workers and based on design documentation drafted by the Russian design institute Novgorodsky GIAP. Ammonia-4 project investments totalled approximately USD 500 million.
