Acron Acquires 200 Advanced Hopper Cars

Acron (Veliky Novgorod) purchased 200 new mineral fertiliser transportation cars manufactured by Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant (TVSZ). These advanced models are used to load urea and ammonium nitrate.

The team at Acron’s Transport Department is excited about the efficiency and reliability of TVSZ rolling stock. Larger car bodies and axle load can handle increased loading capacity up to 76.7 tonnes of various mineral fertilisers. The railcars are well-designed and built, with hatches that promote efficient cargo loading and unloading and an inner two-component coating reliably protecting the car bodies against corrosion. TVSZ hopper cars can run 800,000 km between overhauls, which is five times longer than standard cars.

Acron is gradually replacing standard railcars for innovative ones with increased efficiency and loading capacity. In 2017, Acron Group transported 8.3 million tonnes of feedstock and end products by rail.

Acron-Trans, the Group’s railway operating company, provides rail transportation of commodities and end products to port terminals and customers in Russia and the CIS for the Group’s Russian companies. Acron-Trans operates over 1,500 railcars and tanks owned by the Group, as well as 2,000 leased railcars.
