Dorogobuzh Upgrades Workshop at Verkhnedneprovsk Technological College

Dorogobuzh (an Acron Group company) invested more than RUB 1.1 million to upgrade and equip a welding training workshop at Verkhnedneprovsk Technological College.

In addition to remodelling the workshop and replacing its windows, the Company financed the purchase of welding inverters, fire-resistant suits and protective masks for welders, grinders, consumables for welding, and workwear cabinets. The welding booths were completely re-equipped, and the lighting system and electrical networks were replaced with the installation of switchgears.

According to Svetlana Zhuravleva, Director of Verkhnedneprovsk Technological College, the upgrades will help the college train future welders to modern educational and professional standards, including as part of the WorldSkills Russia competition. Graduates will naturally consider the region’s leading industrial enterprise – Dorogobuzh – when looking for employment.

‘You have chosen a very important profession that is in demand, and Dorogobuzh wants to help you to master it and become a true expert’, Dorogobuzh Executive Director Roman Dmitriev told the students. ‘Our Company will continue to support the college and contribute to keeping its workshops and laboratories at the cutting-edge of technology.’

The ceremony was attended by Roman Dmitriev (Dorogobuzh Executive Director), Konstantin Serenkov (Head of the Dorogobuzh district administration in Smolensk region), Marina Ivanenkova (Head of the Division for Vocational Education and Science in the Smolensk Region Department for Education and Science), Igor Gulitsky (Deputy of the Smolensk Regional Duma and Сhair of the primary trade union organisation at Dorogobuzh), Dmitry Ivanov (Deputy Executive Director for Human Resources and General Affairs of Dorogobuzh), and instructors and students from the technical college. After the formal opening of the workshop, one of the students made the first welding seam.

For over 55 years, Dorogobuzh has partnered with Verkhnedneprovsk Technological College to provide secondary vocational education for its employees.
