Modern Geriatric Centre Opens in Veliky Novgorod with Acron Support

The War Veterans Hospital in Veliky Novgorod opened the doors to its new, modern geriatric centre on 4 November 2020 with a ceremony attended by Chairman of Acron’s Board of Directors Alexander Popov, Acron Executive Director Vladimir Gavrikov, Governor of Novgorod region Andrey Nikitin.

The initiative to create a geriatric rehabilitation system in Novgorod region was spearheaded in 2019 by Dr Viatcheslav Kantor, Chairman of Acron’s Coordinating Board and an honorary citizen of Veliky Novgorod. Governor Nikitin expressed his support for the project, which aims to help seniors maintain their health, energy levels, and social connections using state-of-the-art medical rehabilitation technologies.

In addition to the rehabilitation centre in Veliky Novgorod, primary care facilities were opened in three district seats (Staraya Russa, Borovichi, and Pestovo). Novgorod region’s geriatric rehabilitation centre will offer inpatient care, consultations, and diagnostic tests to approximately 19,000 senior patients each year, almost quadrupling the city’s geriatric healthcare capacity.

Acron allocated a total of RUB 143 million for the project, which included bringing all existing utilities up to code, replacing the roof, redesigning an existing facility using lean culture technologies, improving accessibility for persons with reduced mobility, repairing the building’s facade, and putting in landscaping around it. The project also installed new diagnostic, medical, and rehabilitation equipment.

Chairman of Acron’s Board of Directors Alexander Popov explained the Company’s ambitions for the project: ‘Acron is actively involved in local social initiatives that target the most pressing healthcare, educational, and cultural issues. When investing in the geriatric centre, our goal was to enable systematic support and improve the quality of life for senior citizens. We hope that the new centre will give local seniors the opportunity to receive quality medical care and live a full life.’

Over the past ten years, Acron has signed annual social and economic cooperation agreements with the Veliky Novgorod Administration. In 2020, the Company allocated over RUB 30 million to support local schools and colleges.
