Acron Wins 5 Stars: Chemical Industry Leaders

Acron (Veliky Novgorod) won the Project of the Year nomination at 5 Stars: Chemical Industry Leaders, a nationwide competition to recognise innovation in the industry. Acron’s winning project involved construction of three UKL units for nitric acid production with a total capacity of 405,000 tonnes per year.


In addition, Smolensk-based Dorogobuzh (a member of Acron Group) was recognised by the expert committee and took second prize in the first stage of the Safety Rating competition in the Health and Safety nomination and Large-Scale Facility category.

5 Stars: Chemical Industry Leaders is an annual competition that aims to foster a high-tech and competitive Russian chemical industry and related industries, motivate companies to improve their workers’ professional skills and efficiency, and introduce innovations and global best practices. The competition is held in three stages: Safety Rating, Care and Responsibility, and an audit of companies by international experts. In addition, the competition recognises the year’s top projects and players. Winners were recognised on 28 October at a meeting of the Russian Union of Chemists held as part of the Chemistry 2020 exhibition.
