Acron Group invests heavily in environmental protection each year. The Group’s environmental projects focus on protecting air and water resources and reducing the impact of production waste. In 2018, Acron Group invested RUB 377 million in environmental protection measures, up 47% year-on year.
Over the course of 2018, Acron (Novgorod Region) and Dorogobuzh (Smolensk region) upgraded their main shops to improve the environmental safety of their operations and products, monitored air quality at the borders of their sanitary protection zones, and analysed emissions from operating facilities.
The Oleniy Ruchey mine (Murmansk region) and the Talitsky mine (Perm Krai) performed air monitoring and dust suppression within their license areas and irrigated waste dumps and roads in the dry season. NWPC built additional gas treatment and dust collection facilities to reduce human impact on the atmosphere. Total investments in these projects were approximately RUB 27 million.
Veliky Novgorod-based Acron implemented measures to ensure stable equipment operation, meet wastewater treatment parameters, and comply with environmental laws at its biological treatment plant, as well as the urea units and the water supply and sewage units. Dorogobuzh took measures to protect surface waters, overhauled its facilities and replaced worn-out equipment and pipelines. The quantity of wastewater generated by the Companies was down 38%. NWPC spent RUB 5 million to release 23,000 fry into a tributary to the Umba River (in the White Sea Basin).
All Acron Group companies took steps to comply with the requirements of Russian sanitary and environmental laws for handling waste generated by biological treatment of sewage.
